I’m often asked by novice golfers where they can go to find information that will assist in developing their golf skills beyond the lesson tee. The Play Golf America web site (see links) is my number one pick! Their mission statement is “To grow the game of golf” and the PGA of America is one of the founding organizations.

Within this site you will find information on lessons, equipment, fitness, and rules and etiquette. The Golf Institute will be participating in upcoming promotions with Play Golf America, so please check our Announcements section in the future for events that may have a positive impact your golf game.

The change of seasons often motivates us to make changes in our life. If you have decided that your change this season is a better golf game, we’d like to help you find the right lesson plan that will provide a positive impact on your golf game this season.

We often receive questions regarding the difference in potential benefits that are provided from group or private instruction. The answer to that lies with the students goals, learning style, time constraints, and budget.

Group classes are ideal for those who are seeking a well rounded game improvement plan. They are also a tremendous value in professional instruction. At the Golf Institute, each lesson series will cover the fundamentals for all aspects of the game. Further, the classes meet twice a week to provide a solid kick start in helping you achieve your new goals. In developing the adult classes we adapted the lesson plans to complement experience levels.

GOLF 101 is a six hour class devoted to the brand-new golfer with little or no experience. In addition to fundamental instruction, the 101 class provides ample time to explore the golf environment, familiarize new golfers with etiquette and rules, introduce strategy, and provide Q & A sessions.

GOLF 201 is devoted exclusively to classic swing instruction from tee to green and offers smaller class sizes to facilitate constructive change. Golfers who would benefit most from the 201 Series are comfortable with the golf environment, but need corrective work with their golf swing.

GOLF 301 is a fabulous class that covers golf shots not traditionally covered in group instruction. Lessons will cover bunker shots, difficult conditions, controlling slices/hooks, and uneven lies. This series is a perfect follow up to Golf 201.

Private lessons are ideal for golfers looking for more detail in their lesson development, flexibility in scheduling, long term development, or simple “tune ups”. Private lessons are student driven and the golf professional will work intensively with the student to help them with their goals through the use of training aids, digital video analysis, corrective positioning and observation.

Overall, lessons should be augmented with plenty of practice time. It takes about 1800 repetitions for a new skill to imprint to the muscle memory! We hope that our classes provide you with quality instruction that will make all those repetitions produce outstanding results!
